Iodine Supplements: Micrograms, High Amounts and Thyroid Context
Iodine amounts vary greatly between products with similar names. Compare Iodomere, Prolamine Iodine and Prolamine Iodine Plus in micrograms per labeled serving; do not treat higher iodine as a routine thyroid or energy upgrade.

Compare the exact preparation and labeled serving
Keep mcg and mg distinct: 3,000 mcg equals 3 mg. The lower-amount products also differ in ingredients, including kelp and animal or seafood ingredients where listed. Read the exact current package rather than generalizing across the iodine family.
The amounts below reproduce the inspected manufacturer online panel. They describe labeled servings, not an individualized regimen. Confirm your selected package and review the full ingredient list and dietary attributes on the product page.

What the ingredient evidence can establish
Iodine is needed to produce thyroid hormones. Both inadequate and excessive intake can disrupt thyroid function. Symptoms such as fatigue do not establish iodine deficiency, and thyroid disease is not a reason to add iodine without clinical guidance.
NIH lists an adult upper intake level of 1,100 mcg daily for the general population, with exceptions for supervised medical treatment. Prolamine Iodine Plus declares 3,000 mcg per capsule, making professional context especially important; the safety benchmark is not a suggested dose.

Review suitability, medicines and the whole formula
Autoimmune thyroid disease, antithyroid medicines and other iodine-containing products require careful review. Pregnancy and nursing have specific nutritional needs but do not justify choosing a high-amount product without direction. Do not change thyroid prescriptions yourself.
Review dietary intake, thyroid history and the full label with your clinician. The manufacturer directions remain authoritative product instructions; this guide does not create an iodine treatment schedule.

Prepare a focused practitioner conversation
Bring the selected label, your reason for considering iodine, and a list of medicines and other supplements. Compare the intended outcome with the specific preparation studied, and agree how suitability and any benefit will be assessed.
Manufacturer suggested-use text checked for these products: Prolamine Iodine: One tablet per day, or as directed. Iodomere®: One tablet per day, or as directed. Prolamine Iodine Plus: One capsule per day, or as directed.
These are separate product instructions, not one combined supplement schedule. Keep the current package directions with your practitioner plan; ingredient research does not override manufacturer labeling.
